This page summarizes how the ITL Linux Build is maintained.

Currently the build is running Debian Jessie. When packages requested by the instructors or security updates are required, they are applied to one machine and then cloned out to the rest of the machines. This process occurs roughly at the beginning of every semester. The ITL is the only student run lab on campus.

This build also forms the basis for the COSI Linux Build.

Wanted packages

Add any packages you might need here! zathora

  1. xfce4-goodies (fixes USB mounting problems, must first remove pumount and usbmount)
  2. sshfs
  3. pip
  4. python-numpy
  5. python-scipy
  6. python-matplotlib
  7. pepperflashplugin
  8. alsamixer or alsamixergui - basically some way to change the volume quickly and easily.

Misc Weirdness

Since Netbeans in Testing is currently borken, netbeans has been installed manually. This should get cleaned up in the future if possible. Run sudo chmod u+s `which ping` to allow csguest to ping. Also, /root/ will cosify the image. See that file for details of what cosification means.
